The Highly Reactive Youth-Shaming or Fear of Punishment or Death

In the field of attachment challenged individuals there are many VERY reactive persons. A smile/frown, change in tone of voice, teasing or asking for a time-outs from the individual can illicit a highly reactive response from the person who may have experienced trauma of early childhood. Often the person’s highly reactive response is out of shame or fear of punishment. The team must decide how to keep everyone safe and help the individual learn to regulate themselves in a healthy manner which provides nurturing support from the parent.
